October 17, 2020 at 8:15 am - 4:30 pm$200 – $395
The Pittsburgh Mercy Parish Nurse & Health Ministry Program is hosting Foundations of Faith Community Nursing, a five-day preparation course that offers valuable education and resources to faith community nurses, lay health ministers, and anyone interested in learning about whole-person health (balancing body, mind, and spirit). This course will be held on October 2, 3, 17, 23, and 24, 2020 from 8:15 a.m.-4:30 p.m. via Zoom video conference. The Pittsburgh Mercy Parish Nurse & Health Ministry Program is an approved provider of the curriculum developed by the Westberg Institute for Faith Community Nursing. This hybrid course offers online modules and Zoom meetings taught by our approved faculty. The class size is limited to 20 participants. At the end of the course, registered nurses will be commissioned as faith community nurses. All other participants will be commissioned as health ministers. Everyone receives a pin and certificate.
The cost is a one-time payment covering all five days: $395 for registered nurses (RNs) and includes 39.25 continuing education credits or $200 for non-registered nurses and RNs with inactive nursing license. For each participant, the cost includes a follow-up virtual mentoring session with a health ministry specialist from our Pittsburgh Mercy Parish Nurse Ministry Team. The last day of the course includes a special virtual commissioning service and blessing. Limited, partial scholarships and an early registration discount are available. To be eligible for discounted pricing, registration and payment must be postmarked by September 3, 2020. The regular registration deadline is Friday, September 25, 2020.
