Census 2020: Will our Communities be Counted?
May 9, 2019 at 8:30 am - 10:00 am
FreeMcAuley Ministries, Pittsburgh Mercy’s grant-making foundation, is hosting a breakfast with community partners to discuss “Census 2020: Will our Communities be Counted?” on Thursday, May 9, 2019, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Jeron X. Grayson Community Center, 1852 Enoch Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 (Hill District). Organizations that work with individuals and families in communities are invited to discuss the challenges related to a complete and accurate census and to outline strategies for ensuring that our communities are counted. Historically, there are specific groups that have been under-counted in the census, particularly African-Americans, children under the age of 5, and low-income populations. When census information is inaccurate, under-counted people and their communities lose visibility, political representation, and access to vital resources.
Guests include:
- Andréa Stanford, Assistant Allegheny County Manager
- Feyisola Alabi, Manager, Welcome Pittsburgh Office of Mayor William Peduto
- Jessica Mooney, Manager of Special Projects, Office of Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald
- Hannah Locop, Program Manager, Greater Pittsburgh Nonprofit Partnership (GPNP).
Please RSVP by April 19, 2019 to mrcooper@mcauleyministries.org.
